I would like to lose a little weight but...?

I'm a 23 y/o female who was born extremely premature (5 1/2 months instead of 9 months) Anyways, a result of this, is that I have never been able to tolerate running because my lungs are underdeveloped. I know I can walk, but I'm already used to walking because I work as a nursing assistant at a hospital. I'm 5 feet tall and weigh 132lbs. I know this isn't extrememly overweight, but I'd like to lose some. Can anyone help?
Answer:
people who tell you that you dont need to lose wieght are really stupid. if it will improve your self image then... go for it. you are in the healthy range though. i understand where your coming from. my track friend was born premature (but only 2 months premature). she has trouble running. try dieting, like eating whole grains and eat most of your food before 12 am. can you do sit ups? that really helps. you can also walk that helps. good luck
Pick a mode of exercise that won't take your breath away. If running does that to you, consider jogging at a much slower pace. You can also try lifting weights as this burns calories but generally isn't aerobic like running.Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/ca... This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.Guide to Dieting - http://straighthealth.com/pages/guides/d...

don't loose weight. i'm 9 years younger than you and that's how much i weigh! that's crazy. don't do something you don't have to do risking your life.
You can lose weight by cutting calories, too, instead of burning them through exercise. Cut out or replace snacks and sodas or maybe replace some of your bread or pasta with veggies or fruits. Also, even if you're used to walking a lot, you would still burn calories if you walked an extra thirty or sixty minutes 4-5 times a week. Actually, if you already have a lot of muscles in those areas, you'll burn more calories, because there will be more muscle tissue that needs energy.
Exercise suggestions: yoga and cycling.
You should also just eat less or make healthier food choices.
Its simple, calories in vs. calories out. If you're serious about this, it sounds like you're on your feet all day anyway, so just choose your food better, eat less and you'll be fine.
no one really knows except your doctor. ask him/her. they know what your body is like, etc.
I am 5'2" and 145. I do not consider myself extremely overweight, so I doubt that you are.Walking at work is not like going for a long walk. You will get more benefit from 'walking' for exercise. You can also try water aerobics. You do not get tired like you would from running. The water acts as resistance. Also, pick one 'bad' food that you eat a lot and ration it or cut it out completely. (I am giving up Cola) Try finding a better substitute for it. (I am drinking more water and juices)Next I will give up potato chips. etc. They may seem like small steps, but even with small steps, you will get where you are going.Good luck.
Unfortunately your inability to perform vigorous cardio exercise has left you with a serious disadvantage and very few options when it comes to losing those last few pounds to make you look and feel your best. As a high performance trainer, I would suggest a lower calorie diet (yeah it sucks鈥? and longer daily cardio routines (preferably jogging or cycle if possible) to compensate for the lack in intensity. If you are serious about achieving your goal, record everything you eat and count calories. But before you do anything鈥?. CHECK WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.
